I’ve finally completed something that isn’t just a rectangle! Check out the before-and-after:
This is my version of the “Wicked” sweater from Ravelry; the pattern can be found here.
I’m seriously so happy with how it turned out! It fits well and the directions were actually pretty fun to follow. (I think the color choice highlights the details nicely, too.) Getting the sweater soaking wet and blocking it when I was done helped to open the ribbed neckline up; so much so that it’s almost off-the-shoulder now. I think my cold shoulders can deal, though.
See my in-between progress over on Flickr!

OMG! This is amazing and I’m jealous and and and! I have yet to actually finish something that isn’t a pair of socks or a scarf. Actual wearable clothing scares me.
Aw, thanks Grace! I was surprised by how easy this pattern was and I’d totally suggest it for a first sweater (even though you have to buy the pattern). I was doing another (free) sweater before which turned out to have all kinds of sucky mistakes, so I think it’s all about finding the right patterns at the beginning. I’d only ever finished scarves before; socks actually seem harder to me!
Gorgeousss! I would have snatched that up in a store in two seconds, it’s such a cute pattern! I like the boat-neck neckline, myself, especially with less than full length sleeves. Understanding that this was your first sweater, how long did this take you? What do you have planned next?
:D! Thank you! (And where is your website?!)
It took me about a month to complete this… but since I didn’t knit all day every day, I’d say maybe more like two weeks of knitting for a few hours each day. So basically no time!
Right now I’m crocheting a hat and will probably try an interesting scarf, but I have a bunch of patterns in my Ravelry queue for safekeeping. It’s kinda crazy.
are you able to share the pattern? I can’t get over how awesome it is!
Of course:
